SCREENING AND SAFETY COMMITTEE
MISSION: To ensure Loranger Baptist Church meets the safety regulations established by the Louisiana Fire Marshal in accordance to the phased reopening of the church and state.
ROLE OF COMMITTEE LEADER: Manage a team of 3-12 individuals who are willing to adhere to and assure the safety procedures listed below, as they have been established by the Louisiana Fire Marshal and agreed upon by Loranger Baptist Church Leadership Committee; ensure 3 committee members are present each Sunday to carry out all procedures appropriately (members may rotate according to committee members’ and leader’s needs).
ROLE OF VOLUNTEERS: Adhere to the safety procedures established by Louisiana Fire Marshal and model appropriate behavior for those attending Loranger Baptist Church. Volunteers on this committee will be expected to perform the following duties:
Committee members (also referred to as “ushers” or “overseers,” according to Louisiana Fire Marshal Report) will wear masks and gloves at all times.
PRE-SERVICE DUTIES:
Ushers will be expected to arrive at church no later than 10:00am to assist in the welcoming and screening of guests.
Ushers will screen guests according to COVID-19 questionnaire:
“Have you had a fever in the last 48 hours?”
“Have you had a cough, difficulty breathing, or shortness of breath?”
“Have you or anyone in your household been exposed to someone with the Coronavirus?”
Guests who do not pass screening will be asked to worship off campus, via Livestream.
Ushers will encourage guests to use hand sanitizer before entering the building.
This is encouraged, but not enforced. Hand sanitizer will be provided by LBC and will be sprayed onto guests’ hands by usher.
Ushers will encourage (but not require) guests to wear masks upon entering.
Guests who wish to sing during worship will be asked to wear a mask until further notice.
Ushers will ensure that church guests enter through one main door and will immediately escort guests to their assigned seats.
There will be no congregating in the lobby or church restrooms. Guests will be seated immediately.
Ushers will assign seats according to social distancing guidelines:
Guests will be ushered to the front and will be sat from front to back.
Families must sit together and will be encouraged to remain seated until after the service.
Ushers will leave two empty seats between families and will leave two empty seats closest to the center aisle; ushers will seat families on one row, and then skip a row before seating others.
Ushers will encourage guests to use hand sanitizer before entering building
This is encouraged, but not enforced. Hand sanitizer will be provided by LBC and will be sprayed onto guests’ hands by usher.
DURING SERVICE DUTIES:
At least one usher will be stationed at the door to encourage late arrivals (or guests that exceed total occupancy) to worship off campus, via Livestream.
Ushers who attend service will be asked to remain in the back of the sanctuary with masks on; gloves may be removed, but ushers should put on new gloves before church concludes.
POST-SERVICE DUTIES:
Ushers will escort guests out of the building, family by family, from back to front.
There will be no congregating in the lobby or church restrooms. Guests will exit building immediately.
Ushers will be responsible for cleaning according to the following guidelines:
Disinfectant (Lysol, or similar product) will be used to clean the following surfaces:
All chairs in sanctuary
All light switches, thermostats, door handles, and countertops connected to sanctuary, lobby, and hallway near the restrooms
Main bathrooms will be cleaned, including toilets, sinks, lightswitches, and stalls
All cleaning products will be provided by Loranger Baptist Church
Ushers are encouraged to safely dispose of masks and gloves before immediately exiting the building
Volunteers on this committee will also be responsible for restating the following information:

There will be no distribution of items, including bulletins, sign-up sheets, flyers, coffee, or gifts.
Guests will need to be seated by 10:45 in order to set up the Livestream.
Guests are encouraged to wear masks, but are not required to do so.

The Leadership Committee recognizes that many of these procedures will take away from
our standard “church” experience. The committee also recognizes the challenges associated
with ensuring the screening and safety of church guests. Please remain communicative with
the leadership committee, and ask for any additional assistance or reinforcements you may need.
We love you, we support you, and we are thankful for you.
Our church could not open safely without you.
